KAHRAMANMARAŞ, Türkiye – Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) finished the Tour of Kahramanmaraş with three riders inside the top eight overall and were named the Overall Best Team at the UCI 2.2 race.
The four-day race, held from Aug 4 to 7, was part of the UCI Europe Tour and featured four stages in and around Kahramanmaraş.
Dutch rider Adne van Engelen led TSG’s challenge, finishing fourth overall, 37 seconds behind Ukraine’s Kyrylo Tsarenko of Solution Tech-Nippo-Rali, who took the overall title.
Mathias Bregnhøj finished seventh overall, while Australian rider Fergus Browning was eighth to give TSG three riders in the top eight of the final general classification.
Van Engelen also finished third in the opening stage, while Wan Abdul Rahman Hamdan placed fifth in Stage 2. Muhammad Shahmir Aiman Abd Halim finished 11th in the final stage.
Tsarenko topped the general classification ahead of Colombia’s Abner Santiago Umba López and Estonia’s Rein Taaramäe, who finished second and third respectively.
Serbian sprinter Dušan Rajović claimed two stage victories during the race and finished as the overall points classification winner.
TSG were subsequently awarded the Overall Best Team title, according to the team’s official announcement following the race.
The result gives TSG another strong finish on the European calendar, with the Terengganu team’s three top-eight riders contributing to its success in the team classification.
