TSG FINISHES FOURTH OVERALL AT TOUR DE GYEONGNAM

Changwon, South Korea – Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) capped a solid week at the Tour de Gyeongnam 2026 with Dutch rider Adne Van Engelen securing fourth place overall, finishing just 20 seconds behind race winner Tommaso Dati of Team Ukyo.

Contested over five stages from June 9 to 13, the 510.4-kilometre race tested riders across a mix of coastal routes, technical circuits, and rolling terrain, demanding both tactical discipline and sustained intensity.

Van Engelen emerged as TSG’s standout performer with a consistent campaign throughout the race. He opened strongly in Stage 1 in Geoje (116.2 km), finishing sixth in 2 hours 46 minutes 15 seconds, staying within seconds of the stage winner. He maintained position in Stage 2 in Tongyeong (104.8 km), safely navigating the peloton to clock 2:32:40.

Stage 3 in Sacheon (126.1 km) saw a boost for TSG through local talent, as Muhammad Shahmir Aiman Abdul Halim sprinted to an impressive eighth-place finish in 3:09:05, underlining the team’s growing depth. Van Engelen remained firmly in contention.

The decisive move came in Stage 4 in Namhae (118.7 km), where Van Engelen delivered another composed ride to finish sixth in 3:02:50, briefly climbing to third overall and placing himself in podium contention heading into the final day.

In the concluding Stage 5 criterium in Changwon (44.6 km), completed in 1:14:34, Van Engelen held his ground in the peloton to secure fourth place in the General Classification (GC).

The final standings saw Dati take overall victory in 11:45:24, followed by teammate Simone Raccani (+0:07) and Nils Sinschek of Lanterne Rouge (+0:19). Van Engelen finished fourth (+0:20), just ahead of Simon Pellaud (+0:27).

Despite an early setback with Muhammad Haizam Mohd Shabri withdrawing in Stage 1, TSG showed resilience across the remaining stages, combining international consistency with flashes of Malaysian potential.

The team leaves South Korea with valuable UCI Asia Tour points, a top-five GC result, and renewed momentum—reinforcing its position as a competitive force in the regional peloton.
