HAIKOU – Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) delivered a competitive and consistent performance throughout the Tour of Hainan 2026, holding their own against stronger international opposition on the global stage.

The UCI ProSeries (2.Pro) race, held from April 15 to 19, featured 20 teams including WorldTeams and ProTeams, making it one of the most competitive events on the Asian cycling calendar.

Across five stages covering approximately 896 kilometers, TSG maintained steady form, with several riders finishing within the main peloton and mid-tier classifications. Notably, Mathias Bregnhøj and Fergus Browning led the team’s charge with commendable performances.

TSG’s best stage result came in Stage 4, where Bregnhøj secured a 10th-place finish, marking the team’s highest placement in this year’s edition. Browning also impressed with a 25th-place finish in Stage 3, while riders such as Adne Van Engelen and Kee Zhe Yie consistently stayed within the lead group.

Despite the dominance of top international riders, including overall winner Guillermo Silva, TSG remained active in several breakaway attempts, showcasing an aggressive and tactical racing approach against elite competition.

In the overall team classification, TSG finished ninth—an encouraging result given the strength and depth of the competing field.

The performance reinforces TSG’s growing reputation as one of Southeast Asia’s most consistent professional cycling teams. While a podium finish eluded them, competing at the 2.Pro level provided valuable exposure, UCI points, and development opportunities for both local and international riders.

The Tour of Hainan also served as a key build-up race for TSG ahead of upcoming major competitions, including the Le Tour de Langkawi and other regional events.

With a balanced roster combining local talent and foreign riders, TSG appear well-positioned to challenge for stronger results in high-profile races moving forward.
