TSG SHINES IN MAURITIUS WITH DOMINANT ONE-DAY RACE PERFORMANCE

PORT LOUIS, MAURITIUS – Terengganu Cycling Team (TSG) delivered a standout performance on the international stage after clinching victory at the Air Mauritius Classic 2026, with Muhammad Nur Aiman Zariff powering to a decisive win in the one-day race.

The Classique of Mauritius, part of the UCI Africa Tour calendar, is a single-day (one stage) road race covering a total distance of approximately 126 kilometres, starting and finishing at Côte d’Or. Despite its short format, the race is widely regarded as physically demanding due to its high pace and tactical intensity.

Zariff completed the race in 2 hours 56 minutes 17 seconds, emerging fastest from a reduced front group in a sprint finish. His victory was further strengthened by teammate Juan Pedro Lozano, who secured third place, while Pierre Barbier added depth to the team’s performance with a top-10 finish.

The race attracted a competitive international field, including riders from European continental teams and African national squads, all vying for valuable UCI points. Among the key challengers were experienced riders known for aggressive racing styles and sprint capabilities, making the contest highly tactical from the early kilometres.

Riders were tested by a combination of rolling terrain, exposed coastal roads, and humid tropical conditions, which placed emphasis on endurance, positioning, and energy management. Crosswinds along open sections of the course also played a crucial role, often splitting the peloton and forcing teams to remain alert throughout the race.

TSG executed a well-controlled race strategy, positioning multiple riders in the lead group and maintaining presence at the front during critical phases. The team’s ability to protect its sprinter while simultaneously placing another rider on the podium highlighted both tactical discipline and squad depth.

This result marks an important milestone for the Malaysian outfit, not only securing a major international victory but also demonstrating the continued rise of local talent on the global cycling stage.

With the win, Terengganu Cycling Team strengthens its standing in the UCI continental rankings while gaining valuable momentum ahead of upcoming races in the 2026 season.
